Really Real Relaxation for Dogs Intensive (Handler AND Dog Registration)
Have you ever wanted a dog that will choose to lay down and truly relax with you in almost any situation or location without having to be micro managed? Does your dog get over excited easily in certain situations and struggle to calm down? Does your dog have difficulty finding the “off” switch? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, this RRR intensive class may be just what you have been looking for.
The Really Real Relaxation protocol was developed by Suzanne Clothier and is a technique that helps dogs learn how to modulate their own arousal levels, it teaches both handler and dog to be connected and stay connected with each other as well as for the dog to choose to lay down and authentically relax whenever the handler is in a relaxed state.
This single session intensive course is for dogs 12 weeks old and older and their handlers. Because there are so many dogs that can benefit from this training, I am offering this course to both dog and handler combinations as well as to anyone who has a dog, but may be uncomfortable in bringing the dog to a group class either due to health issues or extreme behavior issues. RRR is fantastic for all dogs including those that have aggression, reactivity, anxiety or any other issues controlling their own arousal levels. That being said, if your dog has a history of aggression or has had any physical incidents towards other dogs or humans, do not sign up for the dog/handler registration, sign up for just the handler ONLY registration. Just like learning any other new skill, it is always best to start in the least stressful environment possible for the dog where both handler and dog are comfortable, and can connect and learn together. If you are unsure if you should take the course with your dog or not, please don’t hesitate to contact me at nhitch@balancedcaninesmn.com.
Once you have completed this course you will be invited to join the Cool Pups Club, a private group for RRR students where you will be invited to pop up RRR practice sessions around the community and be able to connect and ask questions.
When: Monday, July 14, 2025 from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm
Where: Lincoln Elementary School Gymnasium, Alexandria, MN
What should you bring to class? A positive attitude, a calm demeanor, TONS of very small training treats (we are talking the size of a pea if you have a medium to large dog or the size of a grain of rice for small and toy size dogs). {Boiled chicken cut up into the appropriate size is a great low fat option that most dogs love.}, collar, 6’ light weight leash, poop bags (in case of accidents) and most of all a willingness to learn and have fun.
